Tamale: The Northern Regional Jamaat of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at the weekend joined their counterparts across the world to commemorate Khilafat Day in Tamale. It was attended by other respected elders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community including Alhaji A.N Moomen, Alhaji Alhassan Ziblim, Alhaji Saeed Moomen Bawa, Mr. Hakim Umar, Muallim Aziz Suleman, Alhaji Adams Adda, and Mr. Baako Abdulai Mohammed.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event involved Quranic recitations in a solemn yet spiritually uplifting gathering, inspiring speeches, poetry, and other melodious songs of praise to Allah. As is customary with all Jamaat events worldwide, the event began with the recitation of portions of the Qur'an relevant to the topic of Khilafat. A verse from Surah An-Nur (Chapter 24: Verse 56) was highlighted in which Allah promises enduring leadership to the righteous: 'Allah has promised to those among you, who believe and do good works that He will surely make them successors in the earth.' This foundational verse set the tone for the commemoration, emphasizing the divine institution of Khilafat as a continuation of the spiritual leadership granted to the faithful.
Participants were also treated to recitations of poems composed by the Promised Messiah and Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as). These deeply spiritual verses, some rendered by female members from the ladies' section, added a soulful and emotional depth to the event. Songs of praise punctuated the program lifting hearts and reaffirming unity under Khilafat.
Muallim Dauda Suleman, theme: Missionary in-charge of the Jakpahi Jamaat, who delivered the first lecture on the theme: 'The True Meaning of Khilafat,' gave a profound exposition on the divinely guided institution of spiritual leadership. He, quoting the Holy Qur'an, stated that 'Just as Allah appointed Adam and David as His vicegerents, so has He continued to appoint Khilafa to guide mankind.' He further elaborated that in the contemporary context, Khilafat represented the continuity of divine guidance, and its current manifestation in the person of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) proved the truthfulness of the Promised Messiah's mission. He said, 'The Khilafat in Ahmadiyyat is not manmade. It is divinely appointed just as in the past and remains a beacon for unity and peace in the Muslim world.'
Muallim Bashir Opoku of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spoke on 'The Importance of Khilafat,' emphasizing the critical role that a single spiritual leadership played in uniting the Muslim Ummah. He supported his presentation with numerous Qur'anic references and emphasized that without Khilafat, the Muslim world risked division and disarray. He said, 'The Ahmadiyya Community is blessed with unity under one Khalifa, and this is a divine gift we must cherish and protect.' Muallim Opoku encouraged members to continually commemorate Khilafat Day as a reminder of the blessings and responsibilities that came with being under divinely appointed leadership.
Maulvi Hamd bin Mohammed, Northern Regional Missionary, reminded members of the sect of the significance of celebrating the Khilafat Day. He said, 'This day is not just for remembrance. It is for action. We must use this opportunity to spread the message of the coming of the Mahdi as fulfilled in the person of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), and pray fervently for our Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba), and all those working under his leadership to spread the word of Allah to the ends of the earth.'
Dr. Nicholas Danwaar, Regional President of Jamaat, expressed appreciation to the speakers for the enlightenment and spiritually nourishing messages delivered, adding, 'Your presence and participation made this event a great success, and a testament to the love we share for Khilafat.'
