’25 years of the first FM radio station is a huge accomplishment’

To commemorate 25 years of the existence of the Seychelles Paradise FM radio station, the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) held a special road show yesterday on the premises of the National Museum of History.

Led by the principal of Paradise FM, Natalie Rose, the road show started at six in the morning and went on throughout the day till 8pm.

The transmission started with the usual Breakfast show with Queenly and Natalie, who noted that their programme remained the same as when they transmit at Hermitage with the exception that all their shows were extended for another hour each.

The Breakfast show went on till 10am followed by a special show with Chicco and Cus Mun till 2pm. From 2pm onwards the ‘Cruise’ Paradise FM team joined with the cruise team for the show which lasted until 8pm.

Ms Rose said that even though it is early in the week, they’ve had faithful bystanders that have been following the show since early in the morning. She said that there has been a lot of traffic movement and that they have noticed people have been following along.

She said that throughout the twenty-five years since its inception and being the first FM radio station in the country is a huge accomplishment. She added that at that time there was no experience in the field and it could have ‘died at birth’ but SBC has shown its determination with all those who pushed Paradise FM into what it is today.

Ms Rose has urged the youth to join the station, noting that it is such a fun and interesting career as they have the opportunity to create like an art form though it is a bit of work. She encourages all to not hesitate and join the SBC team as it is an adventure in itself.
