2022 Budget Process is underway

The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Trade has kick started the 2022 Budget process.

Throughout this week, officials from the Ministry have had virtual meetings with Ministries, Departments and Agencies, (MDAs), which are budget dependent.

The meetings centered primarily on several presentations, made by the Ministry as well as the Department of Public Administration.

There were four main presentations on;

o Result Based Management

o Programme Performance Based Budget

o Performance Monitoring and Evaluation and

o Performance Management System

The Ministry is emphasizing on the importance for all MDAs to have a strategic plan in place, as this document will guide their work for the years to come.

Attending the presentations, Minister Naadir Hassan, has said this process should not be taken lightly by MDAs.

“Once all MDAs have a strategic plan, this will serve as their roadmaps to set up their objectives, which should assist in the evaluation and monitoring of their performance.”

The formal discussion of the budget which would be allocated to the MDAs will be getting underway soon.

In the meantime, the Ministry plans to have these discussions with other partners, such as the private sector, civil society, media and other specific groups.
