12th CJSOI Games ‒ Second day

Dinara Bonne handed Seychelles their first gold medal on the second day of competition counting for the 12th Indian Ocean Sports and Youth Commission Games being held in Mauritius.

She won this precious metal yesterday in the 100-meter race T37 women’s physical disabled with a time of 17.86 seconds on the athletics track of the Côte-d’Or sports complex.

In the girls’ high jump competition, Emisha Victorin won the bronze medal by finishing tied for third with Mauritian Sophie Eleonore after crossing a bar at 1m45. Reunionese Mathilde Mounier won gold with 1m50 while her compatriot Moana Peyrard won the silver medal with 1m50.

Note that Reunion made a strong impression during this second day of competition yesterday and picked up the medal standings with a total of 7 gold medals, 10 silver and 6 bronze.

In tennis, the male pair Matteo Lavigne and Mikael Gomme won the bronze medal of the men’s doubles event by beating the representatives of Comoros, Yahya Saïd Ali and Diakite Fama Abdoul Kadir 2-2 (6-2 and 6-2) .

The gold went to the Reunion pair Noah Saillon and Samuel Robert who beat the Mauritians Loïc Gebert and Kenrick Lam in the tie-break 11-9 – (6-3 and 3-6).

In the small final of the mixed team table tennis competition, Seychelles overcame Comoros 3-1 to take the bronze medal, while Reunion beat Mauritius 2-0 in the final to win the gold medal.

 

Other results from yesterday

In beach handball, the Seychelles men’s and women’s teams lost by the same score of 0-2 against their opponents from Reunion. They face the Mauritian teams this Wednesday.

In the men’s futsal competition, the Seychellois lost 1-5 to the Mauritians. Reunion, meanwhile, had no trouble getting rid of Mayotte (10-2).

In total, Seychelles collected 8 medals – 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze – after two days of competition.

The other Seychellois medalists on the first day are: Dickson Suzette (silver medalist in the men’s 100m with a time of 11.00 seconds), Livio Lozaique (silver medalist in the disabled 100m T20 Mentals with a time of 12.78 seconds), Chloé Joubert (silver medalist in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 10m29), Elisha Dick (bronze medalist in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 9m64), Allison Robert (silver medalist in the 67 kilos weightlifting competition with 66 kilos in the snatch, 89 kilos in the clean and jerk and 155 kilos in the Olympic total).

Note that Malagasy athletes do not participate in the 12th CJSOI Games on Mauritian soil while all member countries/islands are present, such as Reunion, Seychelles, Mayotte, Comoros, Djibouti and Mauritius. .

The competitions will end on the 11th. Eleven disciplines are on the program for this 12th edition of the CJSOI Games reserved for young people under the age of 17.
